Q: How can I get the iMacNew printer working again?
A: If you find the iMacNew printer unresponsive with the LCD display showing something like: loading 2/8… then here is the work-around we got from the HP Helpdesk that seems to work, sometimes, to get the printer to boot up normally.
  1. Unplug the green Ethernet cable on the left side of the printer.

  2. Power the printer OFF.
    imacnew-power
  3. Open Upper Right Door (2).
    imacnew-doors

  4. Remove the Fuser.

  5. With Upper Right Door open and with no fuser installed, turn the printer ON.
    * if the printer boots up normally, wait until fully booted then the printer will request the fuser, insert the fuser, and then the printer will request you to close the Upper Right Door, close the Upper Right Door. Finally plug in the Ethernet cable.

  6. If the printer startup still freezes during startup, turn the printer OFF.

  7. Insert the Fuser, leaving the Upper Right Door open, turn the printer ON.
    * If boot completes then the printer will request the Upper Right Door to be closed. Close the door then plug in the Ethernet cable.

  8. If the printer startup still freezes during startup, turn the printer OFF.

  9. Disengage the Formatter Board and turn the printer ON.

The Formatter Board is the unit on the left side of the printer into which the green Ethernet connection cable was plugged. -- Loosen the two thumb screws on the Formatter Board and slide the unit out an inch or two. You don't need to completely remove it.

There will be no display on the LCD screen when you turn the printer ON.

Wait about 1-2 minutes then turn the printer OFF.

  10. Insert the Formatter Board and turn the printer ON.
    * If boot completes then plug in the Ethernet cable.

  11. If these steps does not force a normal restart, GO BACK to step 1.
